Pigeon Valley Fire Update 57: Helicopter pilot injured
At approximately 1450 hours today news was received that a helicopter had crashed while fighting the Pigeon Valley Fire.
Civil Defence Controller Roger Ball said the pilot was out of the helicopter and is receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Fire Controller for Fire and Emergency New Zealand Trevor Mitchell says all air operations have currently ceased until further notice.
