Heavy rain warning issued 2 July 2019
The Metservice has issued a severe weather warning for Nelson west of Motueka and a weather watch for the Richmond ranges, to affect our area from early Wednesday through to mid-afternoon Wednesday.
Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous, so please take care on the roads.
Heavy rain warning
Area: Buller and Nelson west of Motueka
Valid: 12 hours from 3:00 am to 3:00 pm Wednesday
Forecast: Expect 70 to 100mm of rain to accumulate during this time, with peak intensities of 10 to 20 mm/hr.
Change note: Upgraded Buller and Nelson west of Motueka from Watch to Warning.
Heavy rain watch
Area: Richmond Ranges and Marlborough Sounds
Valid: 12 hours from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm Wednesday
Forecast: A period of heavy northerly rain. Rainfall accumulations may approach Warning criteria.
