There is some heavy rain on the way over the next few days.

Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
Area: Nelson west of Motueka, Buller, Westland from Otira northwards
Valid: 26 hours from 11:00am Monday to 1:00pm Tuesday
Forecast: Expect 110 to 160mm of rain to accumulate about the ranges, and 80 to 100mm near the coast . Peak rates of 15 to 25mm/h about the ranges.
Area: The ranges of Westland south of Otira
Valid: 11 hours from 11:00am to 10:00pm Sunday
Forecast: Expect 100 to 150mm of rain. Peak rates of 20 to 30mm per hour, with possible thunderstorms. Note, a prolonged period of heavy rain is forecast to commence in Westland on Monday afternoon and may continue through to Wednesday. Rainfall accumulations will be significant, and a warning will be issued for this event closer to the time.
